Liverpool can go top of the Premier League – for two days at least – with a victory over Cardiff City at Anfield on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
The Reds are second and level on points with leaders Manchester City but the reigning champions do not play until Monday night away to Tottenham.
The Reds will be looking for three wins inside a week
However, Cardiff will not be a pushover and go into the game with added confidence having claimed their first win of the season at Fulham’s expense last weekend.
The visitors have also had longer to prepare for this game as Jurgen Klopp’s men were in Champions League action on Wednesday night – running out 4-0 winners against Red Star Belgrade .
What the managers are saying
Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool): “Cardiff deserve all our respect and they will get it.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting Neil Warnock, maybe not in the 90 minutes. He’s one of the most experienced managers in the world, and what he did in the past is unbelievable.”
Klopp insists Cardiff will get the respect they deserve
Neil Warnock (Cardiff): “It’s virtually impossible for any team [to beat Liverpool at Anfield] in the current game.
“I think the front three is probably the best in the world.
“We’ve all got to play at the top of our potential to give them a good game and hope they have an off day.”

Team news
The game has come too soon for Liverpool pair Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita, who are still recovering from hamstring injuries. The rest of the squad are fully fit other than Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster.
Josh Murphy picked up a knock in training while Harry Arter could also miss the game with an ankle injury
Meanwhile, Cardiff pair Harry Arter and Josh Murphy are fitness doubts for the Premier League trip to Liverpool.
Gary Madine could return to the squad after a virus, but Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (knee), Lee Peltier (shoulder) and Danny Ward (knee) remain sidelined as Joe Ralls serves the second game of a three-match ban.
Predicted line-ups
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Salah, Mane, Firmino
Cardiff: Etheridge, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett, Camarasa, Gunnarsson, Damour, Harris, Reid, Paterson
